Preparation
So I have been using the past few days to get prepared for my first Street Reading experience - tomorrow after church 9/7. I went through the Gospels and some of the Old Testament and put together a pretty impressive list of excellent passages and stories that I could read. Not sure about the time factor - how long it will take me to read them all. I'm hoping I've got enough to last about an hour or so. I think that's a good time frame, but I'll let Jesus be my guide. I'm not sure where my first location will be, I'll let Jesus guide me there, too.

Why am I not surprised that my brother is standing on street corners with a desire to reach the lost for Christ? Because I know without a shadow of a doubt this calling has come from Jesus himself. And.. If I did not know and Love Jesus myself I would think you were crazy out of your mind! The only thing I wish is that I were standing along side you cooking up some great pasta on one of my little butane burners feeding some of those lost and hungry souls (literally) with you. Then I could be out of my mind and crazy too! I love you Brother, Go and use the gift God has given you and may He fill you to Overflowing with Holy Spirit Fire! The kingdom of Heaven is all standing and applauding, not you, but the work that is being accomplished by your Sacrifice and Love for Jesus and the people who need Him. I am one of those who need Him DAILY, Minute by Minute. Thank God someone cared enough for me to take a risk and share the Gospel with me. May God Bless you indeed and abundantly and use you for His Glory and give you all you need to share His message. I Love You and cant wait to read how it all went today.
Good morning Mark,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
I was just reading some of your blog.
I commend you for your willingness to publicly read from a Bible to people. Many of those people are likely not Christians. Hopefully, some of them will exercise their free will and decide to become Christians. Hell is a reality and you may help some of them to instead spend eternity in Heaven in the future through faith in Jesus Christ.
I read that some of your musical influences include Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, and Neil Young. Years ago, I've attended multiple concerts by all of those musical performers. I'm a guitarist and I used to play and sing songs by them (especially Neil Young) too.
The following may seem a little hard to believe but it is true. Bob Dylan actually took a request of mine and played it at a concert. During the 1990s, I took my Filipino girlfriend to a Bob Dylan concert. Perhaps 1/2 way through the concert their was a quiet lull between songs. I politely and loudly yelled two words "Alabama Getaway". That is the title of a Grateful Dead song that Bob Dylan had covered in previous concerts. I think that Dylan played it sometimes as a tribute to his deceased friend Jerry Garcia (who I had seen in concert with the Grateful Dead numerous times beginning in 1981).
After I yelled it, many people in the crowd around me cheered in confirmation.
That night Bob Dylan played 3 encores at the end of the show at the Wolf Trap venue in northern Virginia. The final song, the last encore that he played that night was "Alabama Getaway". I was amazed. I also cover that same song and I sing and play it too. I learned it shortly after Jerry Garcia died and I've performed it personally in a bar and numerous other places in the past. "Alabama Getway" was released on the "Go to Heaven" album that the Grateful Dead released when I was in high school. The only time that I saw the Grateful Dead perform that particular song was at a concert that I attended at Cole Field House on the campus of the University of Maryland, College Park, during March 1981 days before President Reagan was shot in DC.
I checked online shortly after that Bob Dylan concert in the 1990s and I found out that during that particular Bob Dylan summer tour he normally played very similar songs and he normally played only 2 encores. The first two encores that he played that night were the same songs that he normally played. Dylan normally did not play a 3rd encore during that concert tour. He obviously had heard my request and the crowds' affirmation and played that song for me that night as the very last song that night.
That was pretty cool.
Keep up the good work. Helping people become Bob Dylan fans won't get anyone to Heaven. Helping people to become Christians is an act of love with lasting ramifications for those who become Born-Again Christians and persevere to the end.
In Christ,
French
